It's mostly been pretty peaceful since the Archmage Calvaros was defeated in his attempt to unseat the royal family from power. There's always some tensions with neighboring kingdoms, of course, and some people don't trust magic as much any more, particularly in the smaller towns, but overall it's a fairly nice place to live.
