I can't deny that it's better if he goes after someone who's going to be prepared for him instead of a newcomer. But there's a bit of a flaw in your logic. What if he's not a recent arrival, but rather someone who's been building up his strength to make sure he can get away with these things no matter who comes after him?
[She's at least relieved to hear there's some reasoning behind this idea, though, even if she still can't really agree with it.]
