[08] [Video/In Person for Azalea]

[The Gear, for once, isn't being carried by a certain Jynx; instead it's in the claws of Sojobo, the Murkrow, circling down as Heiji is leaving the Azalea gym. Heiji stops to hold the door open for Baskerville, who struts out into the blazing sun with his head and whiplike tail high; a few curls of smoke follow him out the door, and through the open door there's a brief glimpse of Yuki the Jynx using Powder Snow to help a couple Surskit put out the last few small fires around the arena-area before she hurries to catch up, and Heiji lets the door shut behind her.]

[Yuki takes the Gear camera duties back from the Murkrow, the camera jostling as it's handed off, then Sojobo settles on Heiji's shoulder; Heiji grins to the camera, tossing the Hive Badge in the air with one hand and catching it - while Sojobo doesn't go for it or even really move from staying puffed comfortably on his trainer's shoulder, you can see one red eye following the Badge's movement.]

Yanno, I can only hope all th'Gyms go that easily.

Before I head out, anybody got any information on th'Goldenrod gym and th'road between here an'there? I wasn't in th'city real long last time, an' we'd taken th'shortcut from Violet, so this's my first time down in this area'f Johto.

How we got here, why we're here, what this place is - it's there, so there's gotta be some sense of why it's here an'how it works, even if it's not easy t'find. We've got plenty'f little clues, like th'funny comas where people end up gettin' "back home" somehow, an' people from th'same world who turned up here from different times. I've got a couple theories, just not enough t'call'em more than that.

... there's gotta be a 'how' and a 'why.' I've been looking for those answers for over a year now.

As for a 'what,' I'm a bit more skeptical about that. Johto science doesn't work the same way science at home does.

[] That's th'thing, really; there's some things that're similar enough t'home t'fool ya, but we're stuck tryin' to do things from scratch - scientific method of observation an'deduction still works, just not th'information people got from it in our world.

Y'had anyone close t'you that was from a wildly different time, or that had one of those funny comas?

And the answers aren't nearly as obvious, either. And the 'scientists' in this place aren't exactly willing to talk about it.

Well, 's not like magnets or lightning are obvious without some kind've complicated instruments... aaaand I'm not too inclined t'rely on the locals for much.

...Mmm... But nobody that'd know ya from home, eh? [] It happened t'Shiho, an' we were comparing notes, an' there's some pretty funny things about it.

Yeah. Not too long ago - an' it's funny...

Before that, when I'd first arrived, she'd shown up here from bein' in th'middle of something that'd happened a good while ago for me; was th'sort of thing where it'd be pretty obvious if she'd vanished - but she hadn't. After she passed out like that, she was ahead'f me - last thing that'd happened there was stuff that hadn't happened for me yet, an' there wasn't anything about me havin' vanished, either, an' she didn't disappear from Johto while she was out, either. It makes me wonder if one of th'basic assumptions we've had isn't wrong - if maybe somehow, endin' up here was less some sort'f cross-universe kidnapping, an'more us somehow existin' on both sides of the line at the same time, an'the comas are this side catchin' up to that side like a stretched rubber band snappin'.
